Three hundred years to the day after its first performance on Good Friday, April 11, 1727, Bach's St. Matthew Passion returns. Scored for double chorus and double orchestra, it tells the Passion story from the Gospel of St. Matthew and contains some of Bach's most beautiful writing. Ralph Nelson conducts the 60-voice Bach Cantata Choir and a 20-piece chamber orchestra, with soloists Vakarė Petroliūnaitė, soprano; Laura Beckel Thoresen, alto; Leslie Green, tenor (Evangelist); and Jacob Herbert, bass.
